Waiting for Rain in a Drought

Waiting for Rain in a Drought

A Poem by A

I whispered goodbye

For you

To run after me

To take me in your arms

To kiss away my tears

To make me feel whole

You turned away

Your heart broken

To shattered to start over

You have nothing left to give

     Nothing to spare

     No love

Is it all washed away?

Is it a drought?

Shall I wait for the rain?

Shall I wait for you?

How long

If ever

     Can I know?

Shall I

I don’t know if I have the strength

I collapse

And

   Break

More

And

More

Each moment

I’m gone

Away from you

From your kiss

Your touch

Your eyes

I don’t know if I can

I have no strength left in me

….I can’t wait for a rain in this drought

….I can’t wait for you

Anna, this was so good. Especially out here in Cali we can relate with the parched dessert in our heart, waiting for the passion that life giving water brings to us. Your words flowed like a wandering river, crawling to the safe harbor of the ocean. I'm wishing for more rain, to carry you there, out of the arid wasteland forsaken.

Wonderful.

Despite the pain this was quite a fantastic write... I really like the whole rain/drought as an analogy... No matter how much you love someone you can't wait forever for them to feel the same.
