Gone Daddy Gone

Gone Daddy Gone

A Poem by A

The words come flowing thorough my ears.

       The beginning

      The end

The memory strikes from the music

 Remember

Standing on your feet as your arms held me up

We danced across the kitchen floor

My jeans turned into a ball gown

You were all I wanted and more

 You were my prince

            my hero

As you started to pull away

I held you close

and whispered

“Be with me daddy, keep me safe”

Hold me close daddy

Now I can’t look at you

Don’t want to be near you

 You didn’t keep your promise

 You didn’t hold me again

                           Or dance with me

I never felt like a princess after that moment

My ball gown and fantasies faded away

    along with us

I lost faith in you

Hoped to be protected, loved by you

You’re no longer my prince

my hero

You’re nothing to me

As I am to you
