my depression is a track star

my depression is a track star

A Poem by Reece Kinnaird

Running

For hours on end.

I look behind me and see him,

My sweet old friend.

He comes when I’m sleeping,

Uninvited he stays.

Stuck in my head,

Never leaving for days.

I trip and I stumble,

I can’t look in his eyes.

He tries to catch me,

Filling my head with lies.

Further I run,

Til the exhaustion sets in.

He finally grabs me and says

“It’s good to see you again.”

Indeed, once depression sets in, unlike the blues, it stays. It will fill a person's head with lies. This can lead to what is called distorted thinking, and it is a very dangerous place. It is the next stop before suicide.
