Love Sonnet XXXVIII

An Eastern glow awakened me.

As I stepped outside, gave morning

blessings to the 4 directions,

sipped my coffee, strong, black

and reached for a new day. Today

was my trip to Bear Ear, the Valley

of the Gods, to speak with

the hataalii who lived near there.

As I walked along the trail, a breeze

blew dust and sage weed across the path,

making me remember the way you

came into my life all blustery,

yet full of harmony and deep

mystery, enticing my kindred spirit.

When someone comes to our life like this, we can only hope that the magic will never relent.

like that breeze, the magic she brought, died down, she left, leaving me dusty and alone.
