Love Sonnet XXXVII

Come as a friend, here we

are lost in memories of

long ago in the land of

Wendigos, Skin Walkers, and

Witches. The wind blows evil

through the canyon’s arroyo,

shaping and shifting Coyote’s

howl into ancient cries

of madness and disease,

infecting the sheep and drinking

water, drying the lands of

crops. We sang, danced for

blessings and better times.

The White man came anyway.
