Love Sonnet X

 

 

Cohen danced Neruda with

a honey’d voice and a

time beyond our meeting

of lips, and sorrow’d love.

 

Sweetly flowing moonlight

rested on your breasts

with playing violins,

the music of my song sung

 

my love, with your nectar,

your body pressed to mine

when poetry uttered in space

 

and time that stopped as

your mouth, mine, met in

“a thousand kisses deep.”. *
