On Being Human

On Being Human

A Poem by redzone

....silence = complicity

I. On Being Human

Do you hear every petal drop,

or see the night fall

before the dawn?

Can you speak

all the words

that cross your mind,

or sing the songs that birds sing?

Imagination is the ability

to put all of this,

into a poem.

II. What Have We Become

Do you hear the people cry, or

see babies learn to crawl

amidst the rubble of once homes?

Can you feel

the bones shattering,

the blood flow,

as bombs explode,

the starvation of hungry people?

No imagination is needed,

reality stares us in the eye.

Ethnic cleansing, genocide,

for far too many,

SILENCE!??

No poems will be written today.
