Cosmic Connections

The symmetry of cosmic connections

reminds me of my dad reading

me and my brother, poetry

at bedtime

disturbed by a Spring breeze

rustling leaves

as I sit on the back porch

eating butterscotch ice cream.

I remember too,

how years after you left,

I could smell the scent of Shalimar

on your side of the bed.

It’s strange how cosmic connected

memories spring forth

from my cobwebbed mind.

I love this beautiful poem which is laden with the most lovely memories of your beloved Dad, dear Redzone. I love the scene you so delightfully fleck for your reader of your Dad reading poetry to you and your brother and thus instilling a great love for poetry in you both. A heartwarming memory of eating butterscotch ice cream on the porch on the back porch is so finely portrayed in visual detail. I love that you sensed the aroma of Shalimar on your Dad's side of the bed. I have no doubt he was there with you at those times and the scent was to let you know. It is the simple things in life which are the most treasured as we get older. They are a golden reflection of days which no longer exist now and they bring joyful remembrance. I love this wonderfully penned poem and I thank you for sharing it with me, dear poet. Lovely work!
