60’s Melodies

Listening to 60’s music,

feeling a bit nostalgic,

my mind finds you once again.

It’s been a while

since I wrote a poem for you,

though, you are often felt

in the cobwebs of my mind.

I see strands of red hair

spread across the pillow

next to mine,

leaving the scent of Breck shampoo

and your Shalimar perfume.

I feel your warmth

cuddling with mine

as we enter erotic dreamscapes

of tangled sheets

and sensual sighs.

But…

For a short breath,

we were more than youth’s passion;

we were climbing

the mountain of new horizons,

of red dawns,

and future people.

We were looking for Springtime,

not for ourselves alone.

Out of those dreams

came reality,

and the possibility

of ascending great heights.

And, that out of the horrors,

and chaos of shadow,

great beauty can emerge.

Liberation, voluntary association

can be seen on the horizon;

but we lost sight of each other,

on this treacherous road.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you.

I can only hope

you are not lost,

and still able to see this horizon as well.

This is very nice, softly romantic and nostalgic at the same time. You paint with a vivid stroke of color. I enjoyed.
