Long Ago, Like Yesterday

Long ago

I heard you say:

“My love, come to me

When the path has been clear

And our people see

And fulfill their potential,

Their return to innocence.

Come to me, my only love,

Find me where we first swam

And made star filled love,

Explored vast universes

Wrapped in our arms

And found in our youthful eyes.

Come to me my love,

for I have jasmine scented innuendo

and unfettered, whimsical desires

to challenge all your whys.

Come my love

Lay with me forever

On sun kissed sands

As these young woman’s hands

Soothe your scarred face.

So long ago and

I wonder, was it a dream.

Soft woman’s hands

move gently over my face.

Sensual fingers

run teasingly through my hair and

I willingly moved into your lips.

Drawn there as easily as

my hands gliding your back

pulling you closer;

your wanting me fragrance

upending any hope of rationality

turning instead to wanton desire.

So long ago,

so like yesterday.

So much like a dream,

so much like reality.

And I said

come to me, sweet woman

let me wrap you in my

warm flannel shirt

and the softness of

musk scented innuendo.

Come to me,

let us start anew

a journey

on these sun soaked sands

overlooking ocean and moon

and cloudless skies.

Come, my love,

rest your hand in mine

as we ride the

red, red ribbons of time.

A most romantic poem for the ages; every verse is a celebration of love and its power. The poet is funneling his desires and channeling what inspires.
Beautiful and worthy.

You soothe the soul of beasts and heal the minds in the least.
You are welcome Poet Redzone!
Your words are so full of love, passion, and longing. The way you describe your love as someone who challenges your "whys" and has "unfettered, whimsical desires" is so powerful. It speaks to the way that love can inspire us to be our best selves and to embrace all that life has to offer.

I was struck by the way that you describe the passage of time in your poem. The line "So long ago, so like yesterday" is so poignant and captures the way that memories can feel both distant and immediate. Your words are a reminder of the power of memory to transport us to another time and place.

Your poem is also a celebration of the beauty of nature and the way that it can inspire us to love deeply. The way you describe the "sun-soaked sands overlooking ocean and moon and cloudless skies" is so vivid and evocative.
They are a reminder of the power of poetry to touch our hearts and souls.
