this poem is so telling as to what we have become as a country in a matter of months.
Women's rights are being reversed...they still weren't given enough equality as it was...now we set back 50 years. Yes, Merry Christmas we are going to burn your tree of rights.
I am so pissed at the Roe vs. Wade being overturned...Who are some conservative judges that they have the right to decide for all women in our country...Don't get me started.
Christmas in July....interesting coincidence...our trivia team is doing a contest this Saturday for the first time since before the pandemic...and the theme is "Christmas in July"
excellent poem, Curt...why does this poem not have any other reviews...that's sad.

yes, it is sad, one review, 28 views, not even a defence of america excusing the crimes it has committed.... but then too, not surprising since it is a "rant poem" and purposely stepping on many toes.... I offten try using metaphor to make the words easieer to take, but it is after all a railing against the storm... the republifascists under Trump were hammering their fascist agenda into place when I wrote this and they have gained momentum since then with Roe overturned being the latest nail driven in.... to me this shows that it was more and deeper than just Trump, but represents a divided country with two opposing forms of rule and while the old traditional ways hold sway, they are being seriously challenged by an american style of fascist rule... neither is in the interests of humanity... if you look seriously at our history, it is very clear that american was never great except that it resides over a system of capital/imperialism that is taking us and the world towards the 6th extinction and humanity will be lost to the cosmos...
anyway, with this said I want to add that make your review that much more valued to me and more broadly to the voices who oppose the current trajectory world events... thanks again Jacob...

Howdy,

to butt into your conversation, please allow me to confess this fact and offer this plea: I voted for Trump two time to damn many for lack of a decent Candidate to vote for ... Democratic Party, give Americans a Candidate they can truly believe in and allow me, a Southerner, to vote for the party I once believed in ...
Trump has revealed himself as a Fascist, no doubt, and I have no problem making that statement ...
As for Women? ... I would always hope that a woman might choose adoption, but, if not, I do support a Woman's Right over that which takes place within her own body, her right to affordably seek and acquire an abortion ... I may not agree with her choice, but I will never deny her the right to choose to do so ... Taking away Women's Rights is but that first step in returning our Society to the days and times of outright Feudalism ... And if they can take away a helpless Woman's Rights, they can sure as hell take away a man's rights as well, one step at a time in due time of us all all sitting upon our laurels doing nothing but riding that illusion's delusion of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave ... Poppycock!

Your cynicism is showing, Curt. Indeed, there is little goodwill towards men...or women...these days. War is raging in Ukraine and the USA is helping fund that war which angers me. Palestinians are killing Israelis....though that is not what your words reflect. In any case, no peace on earth for this Christmas in July. Inflation is raging and there are more homeless people here in the USA than ever before. Food banks are running low on food and donations are scarce. I would like to think things will change for the better, but lately I do not have much optimism. Your words are well written, Curt. They get your point across well. Lydi**

Hello Da Howdy from Smalltown, Texas, whoever you are or may be as redzone ...!
To expose lies of deceit's mental conditioning of the masses via fear and deception is blasphemy! ... Welcome to the ranks of blasphemers like me, an ex-Baptist Preacher who chooses to strip the blinders off of a mind blinded humanity in exposing Religion as the George Carlin Bullshit that it is ...
As I enjoyed this most inspiring piece of Poetry, I did think it odd, as one who is a Moderate in an extremism world, to consider that the Right views the Left as Socialist and/or Communist, but utterly fails to take note of the reality fact that if Trump supporters are, indeed, Fascists, then such reality is a good indication that Trump is a Fascist as well: "Make America Great Again!," simply a revamp of a slogan used in Nazi Germany, which was a Fascist nation ...
I am not a Socialist, nor a Communist, but do recognize that America is a closet Fascist nation making use of what is, today, called Soft Fascism in order to disguise the reality that major Corporations (Corporationalism) are actually holding sway over and ruling our nation via their powerful influence over our nation's government of Congressional and Executive Branches, as well as America's Judicial System -- mostly in order to continue to line their pockets with our hard earned dollars and to fuel The American War Machine ...
I support our nation as a Democracy based Republic, and, currently, have no wish to see America a Socialist or Communist nation ... However, I do attest that Fascism, cloaked as good business, denies our citizenry of the very rights afforded them in a true Republic, and is a form of Capitalism that supports Corporation Right of Might and does nothing to insure the true availability of Free Enterprise to the average Joe American ...
Is there any ideology that greedy men will not make use of in order to deceive and enslave the very people whom they claim to rescue, aid, and save? ... I think not, not yet, anyways, but we can hope a better day is coming, and pray to no God that it will ...
Excellent writing and a most powerful message that needs to be heard ...
