10,000 Years

10,000 Years

A Poem by redzone
"

....seeing the beginnings of our Cosmos

"

10,000 Years

“Nothing is too wonderous to be true if

it be consistent with the laws of nature.”

      ---Michael Faraday

Dharma dreamed of life

spiraling in the cosmos.

She spoke poetry to Venus

from the temple in Uruk

more than 10,000 years ago.

She paved the way

in science

and writing.

!0,000 years….

10,000 years and the stars,

red shifting,

have re-aligned.

Our cosmos has expanded at lightspeed

emerging from the Dark Ages,

a mere 300,000 years after the Big Bang.

The Re-ionization

gave birth to the first Galaxies,

while our Milky Way Galaxy a new comer

on the scene.

And us,

emerging after the last Great Extinction

has brought us here,

to this place

in this space-time odyssey

where the future

holds either a community of

associating human beings,

or, another Dark Ages.

10,000 year….

10,000 years ago

Dharma lived,

wrote her poetry,

spoke to Venus

from the Temple in Uruk,

and gave us an understanding

of the cosmos.

Ironic,

it is only today,

10,000 years later,

after going through our own Dark Ages,

we will see those first galaxies

formed more than 17 billion years ago.

NOTE: on July 13th, NASA will reveal the first photos taken by

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). One of its missions is to capture these first galaxies that emerged from the re-ionization some 300,000 years after the Big Bang. Not only will be get a deeper understanding of how the cosmos developed, its expansion; we will also get a better understanding of where we came from, who we are and can be, and where we are headed on this space-time odyssey. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

....thanks for reading....
Further Note: it was reported on CNN and elsewhere, that a micrometeoroid has struck one of the golden mirrors on the JWST... according to NASA, the damage done has not affected the the ability of the telescope to take pictures, or to function properly...

I totally agree with your side note. It is both fascinating and enlightening. We stand at the precipice of all evolution with an opportunity to know the truth of not just our existence but that of the known universe. Your powerful poem speaks to that hope.
