Wild

The Hummingbird

dive bombed the open flower,

bursting all the colors

the flower held.

Blue and red were seen

speeding out into the universe,

light speed attained

as red hitched a ride

on gravitational waves

as they neared the cosmic horizon,

catching a quick glimpse

of the ‘dark ages’

just after the big bang

and then joined in the re-ionization.

Meanwhile, time slipped

and phased a few billion years

as my eyes adjusted

to the Hummingbird’s flight.

I saw its long tongue

gather in the blues,

the other colors escaping,

creating ripples in space,

stretching the fabric of time,

revealing the dragons

of yesteryears,

devouring villagers,

animals, and mythos of life.

As I watched the Hummingbird

and the trail of colors

it unleashed,

I thought about how protons,

those light speed bits of matter,

travelling infinity’s shores,

has given me a beautiful Spring morning.

Star stuff,

ripples in time,

coalescing in a conscious mind;

as I sit,

drinking my morning brew,

amazed at the symmetry

of the cosmos

seen in the movements

of a Hummingbird.

Highly an observational poem. Superbly written in scientific truth. Boldly brought to life in a poetic form.
I love all birds along with the marvelous Hummingbirds. They are amazing as far as speed and movement and many other features.
