The Whale RiderA Poem by redzone.... Maori legend....Whale Rider: Part
I There is a joy I
hear in your words, a joining with
Gaia’s elements, air, soil, fire, water and an emergence, colorful like a caterpillar crystalizing soft
wings gently painted in butterfly
sighs. But, your transformation is more
thunderous, like the clash of
two armies raising bloody
swords; like roaring waves pounding my
shores. You always told me you were pulled by
the ocean’s waves. And then, off in the
distance, I see you
swimming, embracing ocean swells, singing ancient
whale songs, calling to the
Great Goddess you have come to
ride into the depths. You are singing to
her, enticing her to
surface, but this journey
began a long time ago, in the forests of
the North with the cawing of
crows and discussions
with Badb to follow your
heart, embraced by Morrigan’s wings. But Morrigan is also of the sea and this
transformation, a rising of
destiny, has brought you
here, this time, this place. She has called to
you, The Great Goddess
of the Seas, to ride her and
sing, to protect Gaia’s
balance and finally come
home. 2/6/18 © 2021 redzoneAuthor's Note
