Night and Day

Night and Day

....love those Cotton Club blues

Night and Day

As dusk fades

and shadows lengthen,

I can feel the stars in your eyes

move up and down my skin,

raising sighs as goose bumps

begin to sing.

Cool, night air mysteries

moves us closer

in moonlight serenades,

wrapping lips and tongues

in Cassiopeia’s embrace.

While Cotton Club blues

meanders down the avenue,

its melodies stir the curtains

and wraps around

our tangled flesh;

moving us in music’s glow

and the magic of your slow

shiver.

Hold me tightly

with your moonlit breath,

sing to me in whispers

until the dawn nears

and my rhythm fades.

While down the street,

all that remains

is Cotton Club neon flashing

sending the night away

and with it, your sensual sway.

As always, you are one of the best romantic poets at the cafe. Romance is a genre I do not usually get behind becuz it can be rendered in all the predictable ways. You take us into a fresh world of palpable imagery for all the senses, show instead of tell, so we come out on the other side feeling romantically altered (((HUGS)))

something about the sounds that come out of one of those clubs...hard to resist swaying to that
music...just the atmosphere would make me swing.
Bluesy poem, my friend.
