Too Late

Too Late

"

....won't forget or forgive

"

Too Late

Some things

can never be forgiven.

Your lips,

once cherry sweet,

were locked with another

and I crashed

on the rocks below.

A personal loss,

tragic as it is,

can never be like

the Trail of Tears,

or the massacre of Wounded Knee,

Sand Creek,

Hiroshima, Fallujah,

or the daily outrages

placed on Black folk’s lives.

And yet they continue

to deny history,

tell lies,

commit atrocities,

cover up where the wealth comes from:

genocide

slavery

free markets

and their ever proclaimed

democracy.

None of this,

NONE

can be forgiven.

powerful message red zone .. in wrapping just one Country in it, however, gives me pause .. slavery has been and remains (in Africa, the Middle East) and America is the one country, because of our Bill of Rights and the Constitution, that has made the biggest of strides to protect not only society at large but the rights of individuals. So the criticism can be spread far and wide and whose to set the limit on time ... why not go all the way back ... place blame .. demand restitution .. in my opinion, anyone in America who wants to achieve a goal ... can do it .. with perseverance, fortitude, and knowing ones gifts and limitations. "Too Late" is powerfully written .. it held me title to close .. and engaged me sufficiently to respond as I have ;) so well done sir ... i haven't visited your lanes here at the Cafe' for a while .. glad I did this morning ;) peace and joy brother!
