Of Sycamores and Yellow Suns

1.

Amongst Sycamore and Oak,

ancient memories float in the leaves,

are warmed by a Summer’s breeze

and speak to anyone who listens.

2.

A yellow sun peeks over the horizon,

pastels reflect off smooth waters,

but the day begins with turmoil,

the future, as yet unknown;

yet there are those of us who dream

of better tomorrows

and welcome the coming storm.

3.

Janis once sang:

“it’s all the same fucken day;”

but the Sycamore still stands,

sheds its bark,

reaches for the stars:

“we alone can change the river’s course,

sow and reap

our future,

making dreams become reality

bathing in a yellow sun.”

It does often feel as though it is the same day. History does repeat itself. If we reach for the stars, will we touch them? I suppose no one knows till they try. You have painted quite a scene here. The water reflecting nature's colors.....so pretty. Your love of nature shines in this "nice" poem. So pleased to see one from you again. Lydi**
