Paracelsus, in the 16th century was when Magic was honest and unmanipulated. the manufacturing revolution (also known as the Industrial revolution) put an end to the magic of this earth. It's now called "Scientific Advancement". but humans still need metaphor (the closest thing to magic) to show that we are far more than just the dewlap of cattle;; that our loose skin and wrinkled brows mean that there is a world that needs 'likenesses' and diagrams to sort out hate from love, depression from joy, shooting each other from shooting stars. But you are correct. It is August now. The world has spiraled on.
Some are defeated by the spiraling. Some rejoice in the spinning. great poem.....dana

I really appreciate your comment on this poem Dana, come join us on this spinning spiral and let's build a new world with metaphors and roses galore...
I love this poem. It's so relaxing to simply embrace our human foibles & not make a big deal out of stuff. We're all worn out from all the intensity in recent years, esp the past year. Your poem feels like a relief to me . . . let's just be human and celebrate all that is . . . without judging or condemning anything in the same sentence (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
I don't know if the world really stops, but maybe we cause it to pause when we write moments down on a page....we capture a feeling felt at that certain moment.
And it will always be there....etched in words.
