The moss hung low off the boughs
as steam rose from the stream.
They walked
hand in hand
along the bank;
their fingers dancing
to the tunes wrens sang;
their hips swaying
to the sun's warmth;
and their eyes found
the feel of poetry
blowing through the trees.
Your romantic style is delicious. I'm not into romantic poetry much, but this is off-the-charts as far as conveying a sweet loving feeling thru vivid imagery for all the senses! Great details to carry us away on a breeze of longing (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
Beautiful. And I know Chris and Jacob already said it, it's about the feel of a poem.
You do romance very well.

When I read a poem, the very first thing I notice, is how that poem makes me feel. Yours was uplifting, made me feel warm inside, made me reflect on the delight of romance and how poetry can stimulate all the senses. Nice piece here.
you nailed it, Curt.
Poetry is exactly that, a feel.
I know folks want to analyze poems to death and figure out exactly what the poet was thinking
when he or she wrote the poem. But really? Is that why we write? To transfer information?
Or is it to evoke feelings? I think the latter...we want poems to be an experience---
for each individual to somehow find a way to relate to the poem and feel something...

I love how you see this poem Jacob and you are right to say transferring info is not the main reason.. read moreI love how you see this poem Jacob and you are right to say transferring info is not the main reason we write poetry.... a poem should, if it is to be considered art, make us feel something, to experience life through those feelings and to make us think and experience things beyond the normal, to see the world in different light and colors....
there is an art form called agi-prop that many use in different forms, writing, poetry, music, painting, etc... I have used this method or form but I also what the experience to be more than just talking to people, but in the process of reading feel what the poem is saying.... it is one thing to say "fuk you" than to say "bend over and kiss the moon"...
anyway, thank you Jacob once again your words lead me to speak (sometimes too much, eh)
