Clair of the Moon

Clair of the Moon

A Poem by redzone
"

... she is there, in the sea of Tranquility...

"

Clair of the Moon

Debussy saw Clair in the moon,

her hair sparkled in its beams

as she rode the stars

and galaxies

of the black night.

As his fingers swept the keys,

and pulsed my mental imagery,

she sat next to me

in midnight bliss,

gave my cheek a tender kiss,

then flew away

as daylight caught

the waves caressing Eastern shores.

In the moon I see Clair,

feel the notes announce her beauty

and know she is far

far

away

riding stars and galaxies

in midnight black.

Gone,

not coming back,

I’m left with nothing

but this piano melody

and her face

I see in the moon.

Nicely longing & melancholy, you weave together the strong sense of listening to this music together with the visions this music ignites in you. I love the way you leave this open for interpretation . . . it could be a lover, but it could also be some youthful part of oneself, or maybe a dream that's been crushed & gone a time, but which still haunts (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Gorgeous piece of romantic writing. Ending as most romances do, on a sad note.
Beautiful music too.

I have high and low and some of the new "lady" style ones.
How beautiful these lines are, especially when read accompanied by Debussy. So romantic, so visual. Only the ending brought me back to earth.

Very true. Happy love poems don't seem to hit the heart do they :))
One of the best instrumentals ever, along with "Cast your fate to the wind"
Both songs and your poem made me start humming....and each time I hear either, the visuals for me are so great, almost overwhelming...
a beautiful cliff in the moonlight..and lovers rushing towards each other.
