We Belong

 

 

I live in your rainbow dreams,

those flights of color

woven into sky quilts;

each thread holding

these whispers of you

around my heart.

          We belong.

 

We belong,

holding each breath we take

in the secrets

spoken in the ether

of tomorrows desires,

today’s pleasures,

in all the yesterdays

of hopes and goosebumps

that fly on butterfly wings.

          We belong.

 

We belong

in those seconds

of years

and decades,

where our tongues

touch in passionate expression

of elongated conversations,

the taste of strawberry sighs

and sticky fingertips.

          We belong.

 

We belong

in love,

in life,

in the world community

of each other’s arms;

in the sounds of breaths taken.

          We belong.

Love Pat, and this song...
this poem is about love for each other and the feeling of belonging...even when we are separated.
But for me it has another meaning...my mother...gone six years, and she made so many quilts for me...i see rainbows now as her quilts as she makes them in her place in the sky.
