Apache Moon

Apache Moon

….it would be nice to see one someday

Apache Moon

As I spread out my bed roll

atop the high mesa,

the aroma of pine and pinon

surround the air

and sear the rabbit

roasting over the open flame.

As I settle into the bed roll,

and looking skyward, I

am greeted by the infinity

of glittering stars,

and the rising Apache Moon.

As the legend goes,

if you make a true wish,

one, only your heart of heart knows,

then you will find your true love.

The love of wanting to walk the same path;

sharing the full,

as well as empty spaces;

wanting to do all the little things

that make them happy.

This night,

under this Apache Moon,

I made such a wish.

But, with moccasins worn,

jeans faded,

it is too late for such wishes.

Down below,

in mesa’s shadow,

I hear Kokopelli’s mocking flute.

No, I don't believe it is ever too late for wishes or too late to find the love of your life. Your Native American poetry is so emotional, Curt. It makes me believe you were a Native American in a previous life. Worn moccasins and faded jeans can be renewed....and so can dreams. So very "nice". Lydi**

thanks Lydi, your reviews are also "very nice"... ;0)
it's a shame to feel to old to dream...or to be to old to dream.
but the skyscape and landscape you describe is quite beautiful...I think i would love visiting your "somewhere USA.."
great place....even if dreams are fossilized.
