Spaces and Places

Spaces and Places

Spaces and Places

Sitting in Starbucks,

Veranda dark, grande

resting on the table,

I watch as people browse,

read,

drink their brews,

and wonder,

why shadows live

in those spaces

between places

and catch you by surprise.

It isn’t like you can see

these shadows,

they’re crafty,

hiding and then

jumping out at unexpected times.

They even followed me here,

making me remember.

It was just last night;

there I was, lying in bed,

almost asleep, when

this shadow just popped out

from one of those spaces,

surrounding me

and pulling me into this place

where nothing exists.

The scary part is not

that I’m in there,

alone,

but that I can’t seem

to find my way home

And,

and there are these eyes,

blood-shot, red,

and they keep staring at me.

Maybe, if I am very still,

they will leave me alone.

Maybe….

Since it's one of my faves, I wonder if you mean VERONA (line 2)?!?! I love the opening intro of your
"spaces & places" theme (well-expressed in sound & meaning). I love how the mystery can be good or bad & it can symbolize just about ANYTHING that seizes us unexpectedly. Most of all, I love how this is very SHOW (not tell) as far as we can see you going thru the everyday stuff (vivid details) & it helps us recognize the way this goes down in someone's life (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

well as Mulder said...."they're out there"
strange when people watching turns to shadow watching turns to feeling watched....being watched...
i am fairly convinced there is something in those shadows that we needn't be afraid of but would rather embrace...if only.
