Across From Me

Across From Me

A Poem by redzone

Across From Me

She sat across from me,

Her eyes ablaze with sunshine

And attitude.

The attitude of a woman

Who knows her heart.

We talked,

Drank coffee,

A dark roast,

With a touch of cream,

And found the magical spark

Of friendship.

A friendship that flowed easily,

Like the way a fine Chardonnay

Warms and tickles

As it passes over your lips.

It was a fun afternoon,

Laugh filled

And reminded me

Of fresh air

After a summer thunderstorm.

She sat across from me,

Her eyes reflecting Autumn skies,

But felt more like a Spring breeze.

Friendship is like that.

This character profile is so poignant & palpable, it's as if you put us right into your scene ourselves. Here it feels like you're writing in a more straightforward way, not so much word-crafting, & I enjoy the straightforward approach from you too. You do both equally well. I would expect that you would be drawn to a person who's bigger-than-life, becuz you are too (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A really lovely tale told in a descriptive poem with such feeling and sentiment.

Red,
Nice narrative you generated here. Liked the easy flow, the details, the atmospheric touches you put in. Makes me wish I was sitting at the table with your two characters.

Like Frank Ohara where he escaped the mundane to make room for the obvious. Or like our friend Ken Simm who locks us into a scene with adroitness and ingenuity while eschewing the melodrama. Friendship is like that. It allows to us a clearing from danger and difficulty in only for a few coffee sipped minutes...

You're mood setting with nothing more than titles..."Melodies and Memories", "Colorful Reality", "Across From Me" like riding into a one stoplight town and finding a Starbucks sitting where the Court house use to...great poetry writing my friend..dana

This reminds me of a meeting I had a long time ago with a very good friend.....one you are acquainted with! :) Friendship does flow like fine wine and never leaves a bitter after taste either! The imagery in this one is warm and wonderful. Such a "nice" write, Curt. Lydi**

Wonderfully flowing poem of new blossoming friendship and maybe even more. From across the room. With eyes only for each other. Beautifully expressed.

thank you Dawn, so glad you enjoyed and I am happy you stopped...
I felt a glimmer of love in between those verses, although friendship is a wonderful thing to start off with. It's the eyes, they get us every time! Good to see you, Curt. Hope your world is beginning to warm up!
