As Seen Through the Lens

 

 

I held the camera,

looking through the lens,

the focus sharpened

on the water

crashing on the rocky shore,

capturing large drops as they fell.

A moment in time

of a simple scene.

As day became night,

I scanned the indigo sky,

a grand vista of stars,

galaxies,

a universe opened wide.

 

Whether you focus sharply,

or pull back the lens,

you see how everything

is connected,

how everything matters.

 

In the larger scheme of life,

we are but bits of star stuff,

existing on this small blue orb,

floating on the edge of the Milky Way.

While here, on this blue-green planet,

what we do means everything.

 

Our life,

as small as it is,

can change the course of history!
