This describes how we all feel when you return to the cafe! *big goofy grin* There's just something about YOU that resonates with us. I not only feel it myself, but I also see it in the way others respond to you. I know you didn't write this to pump up your own ego tho, so no need to slap these words from my mouth! *wink! wink!* fondly, Margie
Few if any expectations of anything but more of the same these days. Never raise my hopes, set sights anywhere but to the day in hand, tends to avoid disappointment living this way. Tis lovely though when something nice happens out of the blue :))

in every poem we read, that is, if we are lucky enough to read a poet who interjects people in their poetics, we (me) try to look amazingly through the words and ask, what do these people represent to you and who has saved your life? Since poetry is a more accurate depiction of a life saving event, than say, The Heimlich manover or chemo. But in your poems i see joy and whatever is the opposite of joy, as impossible to escape. It puts us on a clear path to understanding. Opening a door (the metaphor) is the access to humanity. And even if in todays world where humanity is lost on our fear of others less fortunate, it still allows us the bluntness of being unapologically real. (2008 and beyond real) since before that "real" just meant hip until Americans lost their savings and the equity in their homes. Sometimes the stranger don't want nothing but a warm smile....great poem...dana

I have always thought poets/artists or every type have a responsibility to create visions of a different AND better world, not so much a talking to but a sharing of fresh ideas, innovation and imagination... hasn't art always been a harbinger of change, on the cutting edge of social upheaval and revolution... in 1965 (there is that year again, lol) the musician Horace Tapscott got his piano on a flat bed truck and drove it into Watts during the uprising there and played music to the people.. he was heard saying "the people are rebelling and they need music".. passed away a while back and he is both missed and remembered...
the point I am attempting to make is that art, good art in any of its forms can very much be "life saving" as you say, I believe this to be true and that you see this in anything That I write is a gift from you that is beyond any thanks I can offer...
