December MoonA Poem by redzone….a moon's reflection...December Moon
The scent of Winter mixed with a frigid breeze as snow fell covering the ground with the aroma of pine trees. As I stood on the deck, I was greeted by the crescent smile of Tahecapsun Wi, while out in the field beyond my back yard, stood a four-point Buck. As he lifted his head, sniffed the air, he looked directly at me and acknowledged my Wolf spirit as he slowly walked away. It was an ancient feeling exciting my blood with hunting instincts, but I recognized the natural bond and knew this was a sign of the balance in all things.
Tahelcapsun Wi, as its smile widens, then wans again, and a blistering Winter wind sweeps across the yard, announce the time when deer shed their horns. A shedding time, but as I bark at the moon, I wonder, what it is I should shed?
Should it be my love for you, the warrior woman who sings ancient runes to Odin, and follows the old Traditional Ways; who my tribal Elders sent me to meet on Eastern shores and hand you my lance. A journey that lasted many moons and took me to strange lands with thick forests, filled with deer, elk, and crows. And filled my heart with wonderment.
Perhaps I should shed the pain felt in loss. The loss of parents, two friends to cancer, as well as lost love, in the past two years. But this pain helps me keep them close to my heart and reminds me of the tracks they left for me to see.
Perhaps it is this life I live, to shed my desire for revolutionary change, and live for a rosy new dawn, blushing communistic ways, where balance in nature and human beings, becomes the normal way.
But why?
Why would I want to shed any of these things, as they are pieces of my heart. Once again, these different moons returns me to my Wolfen spirit, who teaches me to take my loves lost and lost love, the pain and hardships in life, turning all this into songs howled defiantly to the fullness of Tahecapsun Wi!
