John Keats saw stars shinning in Fanny Brawne’s eyes, and time wrinkled in metaphor. The poems, and letters he wrote to her, expressing passion that vibrated Saturn’s rings, were heard in distant galaxies. Each word became elongated, stretching through time, the way each sound in a whale song, became the waves crashing on every shore. Keats crashed on Brawne’s shores, and the world became universes, filling the cosmos with verse.
