Walk Away

Walk Away

A Poem by redzone

...water always had this pull....

Walk Away

They tell me

walking in the sand

is therapeutic;

that the warmth felt

between my toes

heals all wounds.

So today,

I went to the beach,

the one we use to walk;

where we held hands,

wished on a shimmering moon

reflected on a calm sea,

and smiled as we played tag

with foamy waves.

Funny,

I thought I could forget

the sweet taste

of your hungry lips,

the feel of your skin

pressed against mine,

the pulse of your racing heart

as we finger painted

our desires in midnight passion.

Instead,

all I felt

was the undulating pull

of the ocean’s swells

and the temptation

to swim toward its obsidian depths.

The sand between my toes

no longer

could hold the castles we built.

Oh my gosh what a heart-wrenching verse! I was hoping for a happy ending but it wasn't meant to be? I suppose one's desire to walk towards the open sea in a time of great sorrow might seem appealing. Well done!

You are welcome my friend.
The sand between my toes
no longer
could hold the castles we built.

the loss of love ...and to get over it is a painful process...
and you have painted a beautiful picture of it...
i always felt ocean has healing power ..mother nature always sooths our pain...
i guess she can hear what others can't our silent screams..
