Bird Speak

The Owl,

overlooking my garden,

spoke to the Hawk circling overhead

in the mystical tongue

birds use

when they don’t want humans

to know what is being said.

Strange, since long ago,

humans lost the ability

to speak to birds and animals.

Sad really,

as birds and animals have a lot to say.

This is also true

of fish and plants,

because all over the world,

all but humans

understand the “tipping point”

is fast approaching

on global extinction.

With a deep sigh,

the Owl finally said,

“the planet’s survival

is only possible

when all humans

are eradicated.”

The Hawk nodded,

“yeah, let’s do it, NOW!”

I’m completely fine with eradicating humans. I’ve already done that in my own life, for the most part! I feel so misunderstood or dismissed by most humans, whereas I am always understood & embraced by the animals that wander in & out of my existence. With all my doors open of a warm evening, a frog may start hopping in, but I’ll say “Whoa!” and the frog turns around & goes back outside. We are all on the same wavelength here, but I totally understand your poem, which explains why I’ve chosen my current way to live (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
