Rabbits In The GardenA Poem by redzone…***...Rabbits In The Garden
The fog burnt off slowly this morning, I can barely see the stream that runs behind the house. I know it’s there cause I hear the music the rippling water plays just beyond my reach. It calms me, eases the tension left over from last night’s dreams.
These dreams, like this morning fog, are wispy, and dissipate as I try hard to hold on to them. Once solid, they soften, then fade, as memories often do.
But today, as I sit and watch, baby rabbits grow fat eating the lettuce I planted in the garden. I am reminded, nothing lasts forever; that life is both beautiful, and cruel.
It also reminds me, in harsh dreams, the taste of your lips, the feel of your skin, the warmth of your laughter; and like dreams, have dimmed in my mind no matter how hard I try to remember.
And yet, there you are, wispy, ghost like, just out of reach.
Hope and desire, generally welcomed emotions; but, I wish they would leave me alone.
