JourneyA Poem by redzone...for mom and dad...JOURNEY
The sky was puff cloud blue as I looked out from the pier. Gulf waves undulated sensually, as Gulls hovered and dove looking for their morning meal. Terns, awking away, walked the beach squawking at human intrusion on their sunlight. It was a typical Florida morning, filled with pastel displays.
I walked nature trails, Looking back thousands of years; tall Cypress, ferns, assorted birds, as well as alligators greeted me. I walked memories of delight, the ones you took me on.
It amazes me still, travelling a remembrance journey; remembering your decline and facing your passing, I see life all around me. I feel its struggle for survival, taste its determined efforts at wonderment. Though my moccasins are well worn; clothes wrinkled and dirty; the air, water and earth polluted by insatiable “free markets”, I will carry on, continue this journey and leave tracks worthy of a human being. Exactly as you taught me.
