.... sometimes a poem is just a poem....

It Has Been A While

 

 

Not long ago

you said those goodbyes

abruptly

harshly

and with malice,

so, it has been a while

that my words

found their way to you.

Like today, my memory

awoke to the blue skies of pain

and wishing you were still here

cause I remember

your apricot words

drizzled with butterscotch;

I can still remember

the sweet taste

of your truffl’d poetry.

Sometimes your words

danced from chandeliers

or floated around gypsy fires

down by the river of sweet dreams,

and flowed through fields

of red poppies

and yellow daffodils.

~~~

It has been a while

and you must still be

disappointed with me.

But I must say,

I really miss

that my words

no longer find you.

I wish they could.

I think I know for whom you wrote this one....and I miss her too. It's a shame people decide that reconciliations are not possible.
