Remind Me

Remind Me

A Poem by redzone
"

...just saying...

"
Remind Me

I’ve been down many roads,
dusty and unpaved,
but never like the one you
asked me to travel on.
I see you up ahead
but as I near
you fade
like every heart break,
like every foolish dream.

It’s not just the
barren emptiness,
the desolation of nothing,
it’s that once
all this was green
with all shades of colors;
life actually
was alive here
with springs of passion.
There was an address
with a door bell
and when rung
you would answer
with kissable smiles
and warm embraces.

But now you remind me
too of the blindness,
the hopelessness of love,
of never being able to say
“I’ve been wrong”
“I’m sorry”.

You just went away.

It's devastating, not getting that acknowledgement that we "meant something" to someone. It's a difficult pill to swallow, but I truly believe its the angst of it all that gets us back on our feet.

"life actually
was alive here
with springs of passion. "

Such a lovely analogy, Curt!

This one really tugs at my heart . . . your message is so close to my life experience on so many levels, I can't even decide which heartbreak this reminds me of most of all. You have done an excellent job of pouring out your heart in an unmistakable way, such mournful words, such recognizable details, like the door that used to be always welcoming (so well described) . . . oh how much that hurts to think about now . . . I'm sorry that you've experienced this to such a degree, as only a true life experience could prompt a message this poignant. Even tho it's sad, it feels good to share this sorrow with you (((HUGS)))

The heartbreak, isolation, and emptiness are intense here. The road is solitary...the heart now vacant. What once was.....and now isn't. Regrets loom large when we look back down that road and remember. Thing is, we often rewrite history. "Kissable smiles"....the ones we all want to see and the ones we remember most. Heavy sigh....this is such a sad one, Curt. Heartfelt emotions. Lydi**

it's a desolate road when the signs remind us of the chance for love we had, and how we threw it away by not saying we were sorry...i guess Aly McGraw was wrong in Love Story...love does mean having to say you're sorry.

effective write conveying strong emotion and regret.

This is very sad and if someone does not allow room for forgiveness and apology then that's very tough to accept but it's going to be their downfall ultimately. To err is human, as is to forgive and accept we are not perfect.
