Hell's Abyss

Hell's Abyss

A Poem by redzone
"

... sometimes a poem is just a poem, just saying...

"
Hell’s Abyss

Often I want to join you
in those swirling notes of blue,
the old down low
of ebb and flow
that cascade like ebony’s glow
and from there and back,
let me “fade to black”.

but...
You always loved to tease,
to take pleasure
in darkened rooms
where demons could
coddle your heart
and take you to their lover’s shack,
while you just let me
“fade to black”.

Oh, you knew how to fight,
you always had the knack
to take my love
then stab me in the back,
sending me to the edge
of hell’s abyss
where with one push
I “fade to black”.

“Fade To Black” by Dire Straits. Song

As always, I love the way you take a familiar & beloved song from "our era" and then write a poetic interpretation that seems to be quite different & original from the stated inspiration. In this poem, the rhythm stands out more than usual for your writing. I love the 2nd stanza, I can almost feel the venomous vapor coming off your words. I also love the first four lines of the 3rd stanza, again, becuz I can almost feel years-long-festering of old wounds in your description! This doesn't remind me of anyone, but I think it might remind some of my ex's of ME! *smile* (((HUGS)))

Yep ... sometimes a poem is just a poem ... but I have yet to find one without meaning. Feeling a little connected to this one ... I wonder why ...lol. These things can be medicine and some times a diagnosis of what ails you and sometimes a sugar pill ... but if the spirit has been lifted ... back to being medicine. You know what pill cures the most disease ... that ole sugar pill ... placebo effect ... scientifically proven. Hey ... keep the light on for me:):):)

Now you are singing Belinda Carlisle:):)

sorry Pryde, no lights here, it's a kinda touchy feely place and no cure to be found... I don't thin.. read more
Those who can take what we have to give and then betray us...stab us in the back...well, they are not worth our time. Now that I am older, I feel I am a bit wiser. I have no trouble "erasing" some people from my life. It is a matter of self preservation. Dire Straits would be happy with the poem their song inspired! Very "nice" Curt. Lydi**
