Alive Once

Alive Once

A Poem by redzone
"

...once upon a time..

"
Alive Once

Sitting here staring out the window,
wind blowing the tree’s around
and shaking loose some remembrances
of Spring days,
red hair
and the secret stream
hidden behind your dad’s land.
We used to sit there
under the oak,
tell each other secrets,
our youthful, wide eyed dreams.
~~~
Funny, in a way,
this memory of you-
it was one of the few times
I can say
I was happy, carefree
and wanted to be alive.
Aztec Warrior 2.17.16
thanks for reading... the music link is Diana Ross, "Love Hangover"
This was a song we loved together and I just couldn't leave it out of the poem.  See I still do write you poetry.
Oh my, my! This is a deeply-touching & poignant write! Your reverie includes many details that paint a picture in the reader's mind, summoning similar scenes we've all experienced at some point. This message not only tells of a long-ago time, but it also reveals a bit about the current state-of-mind: "I was happy, carefree, and wanted to be alive."
It is funny how our heart can remember more vividly than our minds. little snippets of a perfect moment when the world was good and the soul was happy. The joy that another can bring with the simple act of just sharing a moment of their life with us and how it stays with us. everything from the smells, the sounds, the feel of the wind on your face warmed by the sun, simple but each having its own strong impact that lasts a lifetime. very sweet write Red. I enjoyed.
You welcome sir..
Sitting there remembering back to times that were so full of love and life that you couldn't contain it... Those are precious memories my friend. I hope you can find some more moments such as these soon. We both could use a little happiness come our way again, right?! Beautifully written as always. :)
Sweet reminiscing.....back to a time when sitting by a stream with the one you loved meant more than anything in the world. The happiness in this poem is bittersweet though....because those times are gone. Heavy sigh......such a "nice" write, Curt. Lydi**
i know i get to be a broken record with this...but your poems so often take me back to my first girlfriend...those memories etched in the grooves....i was most myself with her...and what we shared could never happen again, the same way...and didn't...with anyone.
i cherish those memories, and your poems that bring those memories back to me.
