Falling Man & The Mountain

Falling Man & The Mountain

A Poem by redzone
"

... sometimes silence tells you when too stop...

"
Falling Man & The Mountain

The gathering of stones grew
the higher I climbed,
I could climb no more
realizing too late
the mountain would never touch your sky.
~~~
Never meant as invasion,
just some coffee and hi.
Maybe talk some about
the Birch and Oak
down by the small stream;
or the way wild marigolds told
of their sun soaked scent;
and how long ago our youth was spent
star gazing from our grand mother’s porch.
Your’s from a small town in Italy;
mine from the country side of Pennsylvania.
~~~
While I will climb no more,
I am not sorry for the journey
as it was made honestly
like the wind, Spring touched,
as it whispers through the valley
bringing green grass and clover.

NOTE: I wrote this poem after reading 2 poems at another poetry site. Both poems spoke to me and inspiredthis poem of introspection, since I have been chasing “skies” and in need of a "waning moon". Enjoy the music:

No regrets....we take journeys in life for many different reasons. Sometimes the journey does not bring us where we had intended, but it does not really matter. The experience is what matters. The honest sharing of emotions. If you feel caring towards another and your feelings are not returned, that does not make your feelings invalid. The imagery in this poem is stunning....nature at its finest. Coffee and hi.....a genuine offering. Whether accepted or not, it was worth it. What a wonderful write this is, Curt....one of your "nicest". Lydi***

This is really beautiful! I love the blend of warm memories & melancholia. You always include different details to show us glimpses of your memories in everyday language blended with natural observations. The final stanza is the crux of my own life philosophy & how I conquered the curse of regret. It's all good. It all had to happen. It all made me who I am & brought me to where I am. Love this message of acceptance.

A wonderful write. I can't really say anything that wasn't so perfectly stated by Lydia. I might take the apostrophe out of Your's. That made me smile. It's been awhile.:)

Intentions are really misconstrued by others but we should have no regrets if done in good faith and well being of others. This was so beautiful and sincere. Imagery is stunning...:)..............

"While I will climb no more,
I am not sorry for the journey" how blessed to be in that "elder" position ... wise to let the youth do the climbing :)

My bosom is swollen as I listen to the music and read your words.....
I can feel a great force within me struggling for release.
It seems to reach the outer skin and then stops advancement.
I seem to feel all the same energy you felt when it happened to you and inspired this write.
Your words have captured the yearning of a soul.
I came, I felt, I heard !

Often a gesture of friendship can me misundertood, so much more if the one it is offered to has found it problematic in the past. Slow and easy doesn't always work either but in the end, what was meant to be will be. I'm not sure if I tapped into a meaning here but for some reason that is how I read this poem. The poem is beautiful and soft, seems very friendly to me.

yes, we meant no intrusion, but sometimes the other person might take it that way...i have found even a friendly encounter can be misconceived....and ulterior motives imagined.

just coffee and hi...that's all that was intended.
