FAP #3:  Something To Talk About

“People are talking
they say we’re lovers...
Let’s give them something to talk about...”
** from “Let’s Give Them Something To Talk About”
By Bonnie Raitt   from her album “Luck of The Draw”
*****

I often write about you
to you,
un-behaved words
enticed by a cool poppy breeze.
Perhaps I stand too close,
waving from atop the Brooklyn bridge,
you are just across the river,
and it’s your witchy scented mystery
that draws me in,
making me sway slowly
with wild raspberry desire.
So let’s give them something
to talk about.
Let’s talk about love,
about those demons
and the price they make you pay.
About the audacity
of my wanting you
to hold my hand
making time slip away
while teaching me how to kiss
the nightmares within you.
And to show you what it means
when I say as a violin serenade,
be my lover
bend, sway and flow
while another side of me
says don’t go away.
****
There is much
people will talk about,
but not nearly as much
as our writing a senyru
while floating the Adriatic
on a blue-sky’d summer day.
I’ll be your silver/grey dolphin,
sleek, sexy as hell;
perhaps you’ll be my mermaid,
dark hair’d siren beauty
with a swaying tale.
*****
So, let’s give them something to talk about.
Let’s talk about love.

Bonnie Raitt....that song....well, it's always made me smile. Who can resist a "witchy scented mystery"? Perhaps it is time for words to misbehave (or un-behave as the case may be)when Bonnie sings! At least they should have a "wild raspberry desire" or wear a raspberry beret....but I digress. When another human being can kiss away the nightmares, it is meant to be. Ah, mermaids and dolphins and blue seas....sexy as hell indeed....and always, my friend, very "nice." Your romantic poetry rocks! Lydi**
