The Things Inside The Things Inside (Or: “It’s Complicated”)
(Thanks KL for the conversation and explanation. This one is for you)
There are always things.
Things inside
and out.
Overt things
that play with the covert,
making all things
complicated
with complications.
***
Between the moon beam’s desire
and dawn’s colorful display,
are many shades
of sinewy shadows;
a shadow land of
whys
what ifs
what have I done
what have I become.
A shadow land of
doubts
fears
emotions;
a play land of potential
if onlys.
***
Life itself
gives us our experiences,
all of them.
It’s what we do with them
that matters.
Did we live
or just survive?
Did we disturb the universe
with our presence,
swim against the currents of time
or just float,
face down,
bloated
out to sea?
Or worse,
just looked out “for me”.
***
The spaces between
the things inside things inside
is dangerous.
Filled with endless heartache,
and, oh those “consequences”.
But meeting them head on
can also lead to a chance
to change everything.
***
Roughly 80 - 100,000 years ago
a new species wandered
out of Africa,
roaming
exploring
discovering new vistas.
And even in our early years,
while moon beams
flashed in our heads,
we traveled through shadow land
seeking dawn’s colorful display.
These ancient ancestors
left it in our hands
to catch moon beams
and continue this journey
into dawn’s display.
***
Two more thoughts.
Quotes:*
“Nothing is hard in this world
If you dare to scale the heights.” (Last two lines in “Reascending Chingkanshan” 1965)
                                         ~~Mao Tsetung (old spelling)

“Sweet and fair, she craves not Spring for herself alone,
To be the harbinger of Spring she is content.
When the mountain flowers are in full bloom
She will smile mingling in their midst. (Last verse of “Ode To A Plum Blossom” 1961)
                                          ~~Mao Tsetung (old spelling)

* these two quotes are from a book of poems written by Mao Tsetung simply called “Poems” published after his death in 1976.

Seriously awesome write and great thoughts here.
Must mention though that the theory of our Ancestors coming from Africa joyfully has been proven false by many. Just as the theory of evolution was proven false.
But so glad to see someone who even has a care to study such things or even have an interest.

Nice work here and appreciate the work and effort into these thoughts.

The spaces in between are craving content in the contest of life. Shadows cover the flashed displays of colorful lands. You could journey in and out but those but those roaming's and moaning's will disturb the currents of time and complicate the species. Your mountain flowers are mingling with the background and craving the bloom of spring. An excellent write, sir...:).................

You are welcome any time. My pleasure. Thank you kindly...:).....
yes, it's what we do with them that matters...

we can change everything, it is up to us....

instead of living with "what if's"---

we can make our own consequences...good ones.

this is such a good poem...KL is a wonderful inspiration.

nicely done, redzone.

Sigh, I read this earlier, wrote out an entire lengthy response of just how it made me feel, and POOF it was gone...you know I felt this one deeply Curt, it's those spaces 'tween that I tend to linger....I could copy and paste every line you've written, it's truly a masterpiece, your heart is as big as the ocean and as grand as majestic mountains, colored me impressed and forever grateful to have you to call 'friend'....xo

Between the moon beam’s desire
and dawn’s colorful display,
are many shades
of sinewy shadows;

Simply stunning....100 compassionate moonbeams
a shadow land

Wow, so biased or no, this is my favourite of yours. It speaks with clarity, vision, depth, empathy, a huge heart, reaching close into the in betweens of my own thoughts and stretching far into human nature itself. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for this gift.
