Lost

Lost

A Poem by redzone

LOST

I know I can fly,
but choose to walk
away from these doubts
that meander through my life.
I want to allow them time
to eat the marrow of this mind
that has the arrogance
to pretend to know
what the hell is going on;
what love and life is all about!

I have been LOST,
in a lost world!
Felt my skin flayed
by black winds
that cannot sing
and become the ravens
pecking at my heart;
laughingly mock at
my feeble attempts at sanity.

I know I can fly.
But think these doubts
will continue to follow.
And so I walk,
LOST
in a lost world,
slowly dying
while hoping to be found.

So much truth there that many of us can relate to but it's sometimes hard to see what's holding us back from flying. And when do see it, it takes a bit of mustering courage to overcome.
Really enjoyed this my friend.

Doubts and uncertainty plague a lot of us, Curt. We think we know something through and through....we are absolutely positive how something will be and should be. Then, well, those damned doubts decide to walk on the toll roads of our minds...and they don’t even pay the toll! Who’s to say what is sane and what is not? I am sure of only one thing...and that is that I am sure of nothing. The world continues to change and so do I....my cynicism seems to thrive these days. Still, reading a poem like yours makes me believe I am not alone. A very “nice” one, Curt. Lydi**

You nailed it with this one my friend...I know that everyone will relate to this in varying degrees, but I was struck to the bone...I hear so much of me in this lines, actually I hear ALL of me in these lines...the quickest, least dramatic way of describing myself is that I'm prone to mood swings, and this reads like a mood swing and the resignation that comes with it, right down to the 'feeble attempts at sanity'...I almost thought for a bit of it that my unrelenting cynicism would be challenged, but it wasn't meant to be, yet that only intensifies the extent to which I was dialed into this piece...a most poignant and powerful work red.

I love your last stanza and the way you ended it about wanting to be found, and it's always important to have hope. Enjoyed the read. Beautifully written.
