CUP-A-JOE (Mourning Coffee)
I stirred you into
my mourning coffee - a rich,
dark, aromatic black -
it turned creamy brown
and bitterly sweet.

I drank it slowly
as unholy penance,
for crimes committed,
and for crimes that
as yet,
are still to come.

Note: I was thinking about Jacob’s “un-senyru” as I wrote this.  
While neither senyru, or tanka, there is a more structured feel to this poem I think. 
Anyway, thanks Jacob for the inspiration
