I felt like I'm reading the lyrics of a Blues' song, all along you piece. It was music to my ears.
I especially liked the timing thing. I, too, tend to write down the time, so as to be back to it, and relive it, whenever I read the words and feelings it had once brought me.
Wow, to say that I relate to this is an understatement...I feel this one in my bones...sleeping has never been my strong suit, and I find myself burdened with a sense of loss on many a sleepless night...more often than not, I can't even put my finger on what it is I've lost. I could live with insomnia / if I knew you cared...I think that sums up my feelings towards my muse...wonderful work my friend.

Wonderfully emotive, albeit bittersweet, and I love this version of the song. Too bad it's not in sync, unlike your poetry which is right on key Curt.
I am still awake
wondering why you,
your words
your artistic style
and Blues
run amok in my mind.
Your jasmine scented dreams
haunt me
taunt me
Jasmine scented dreams...oh so nice, love that part, love the whole thing, exquisite shadow'd harmony. xo
100 fatalistic sighs

This poem is beautiful! I love the way it goes from one time frame to another, each connected by an image -a feeling- beginning from a desire ("you affect me so") to a realization ("all there ever was"). I love the image of shadows feeding (reminds me of Stephen King's Tommyknockers). Excellent write!

A timeline of insomnia and lack of sleep due to woes and worries about the beloved combined with beautiful imagery to create a wonderful effect. Excellent...:)...............
