Cut My Hair Today

Cut My Hair Today

...the most barbarous claim to always be the most civilized...

CUT MY HAIR TODAY
I cut my hair today,
snipped it almost to the roots;
down to the fuzz on this old head.
I did it in honor of Cindy Sheehan.
I did it for her son Casey,
who was killed in Iraq
needlessly - “for nothing”.
Just another young life sacrificed
in this unholy war,
for American Empire,
global markets
and control of oil;
in Jesus’ name, amen!
Another needless death,
added to the 650,000 dead,
and 3 million Iraqi refugees,
who never wanted us there
in the first place.

I cut my hair today,
snipped it almost down to the roots.
I did it because Cindy
gave heart to the millions
who never wanted this war,
or the emperor who bought it.
I did it in the memory of
the ancient human civilization
where art, science and
written language originated.
Between the Euphrates
and Tigris Rivers,
human beings
fought, loved,
created
and were “civilized”
long before America committed
its first acts of barbarity
in genocide and slavery.
Where human beings first
discovered mathematics
and the celestial motion
of the heavens.

I cut my hair today,
snipped it almost down to the roots.
I did it to honor the
contributions and sacrifices
of Cindy Sheehan.
I did it to take up her challenge:
“It’s now up to you”.
I cut my hair today
and I feel good.
I feel like a fuzzy,
well aimed,
bullet,
sharp and pointed,
conscious
and oh so angry!
I cut my hair today
and I am aimed
at the heart of this
barbaric,
american empire!
FIRE!

Cindy,
this one’s for you.

May God bless you and for speaking the truth. A great gift to Cindy Sheehan's son and others who died bravely for this country but for an unfortunate war. A wonderful write. :)................
