"

...always watch out for allegories and their sharp teeth... HA

"
WORD PLAY

yesterday, I saw you as a metaphor,
wore you like a soft flannel shirt,
like alliteration scattered across the page.
today it’s more as allegory
whose sharp teeth shred
the intricacies of my heart
and similes fly south for the winter.
all I know for sure is
the only real illusion
can be found
in the word

This is a strong piece, it's short and it hits hard.

Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for the great review...
Man you can say that again Mr. Redzone. And those illusions can be the death of us all. Love your poem by the way, you are quickly becoming one of my favorites on this site. There is always something very real about your poetry. Must be a northeast thing.

Oh I love this one curt, it's really clever my man. and here I always thought love was a delusion...it must be different across the border ;-) great read.

Now this one says so much and says it so uniquely, Curt. When you can wear another person "like a soft flannel shirt" and be that comfortable around a person, everything is wonderful, but when the sharp teeth of allegory begin to shred your heart, well, then it's time to alliterate the heck out of there! Many are disillusioned by love and many are so starry eyed, they can not see what love really is. Your poetry is very special, my friend....I would love to be inside your brain to see where the inspiration comes from. Very "nice". :) Lydi**
