Grooving

Grooving

...snow puts me in strange moods..

GROOVING

"Only when I’m dancing

can I feel free...

...I’m tired of dancing here

all by myself

tonight I wanna dance

with someone else..."

Song: ‘Into The Groove’ - 1990

by Madonna - ‘The Immaculate Collection

^^^^^

An icy winter’s night

eats away at me;

snow swirls

sideways at times,

as it piles and drifts

reminding me of the desolation,

of loneliness;

the sometimes emptiness

of my life.

So I make some chamomile

hoping it will ease

this angst and self interrogation.

Without looking,

I slip a disc in my player

and Madonna materializes

singing, "I believe in

the power of love.

I believe you can rescue me."

^^^

It has been a long time

since I’ve held a woman

in a musical sway,

our bodies moving smoothly

grooving to a rhythm

only we could hear,

yet so loud

the world could feel

our motion.

Yes, it’s been a while.

So I asked Madonna to dance,

to ‘get into the groove’;

to move with me

so together feel

the power of love;

to dance until we feel free.

^^^

At some point

the disc popped out,

the music stopped

and Madonna

took my hand.

"Thanks Red

for the dancing,

for rescuing me,

and "kissing me in Paris".

^^^

Smiling back,

I sit and realize

how much I miss

a woman’s touch,

her laughing voice

when she tells her stories,

her secrets,

her dreams.

I miss the ruffling

of my hair

as I am making dinner-

her favorite,

a spinach fettuccini

with a white wine.

And I miss the sensuous feel

of bodies moving in mesh

while dancing.

^^^

Yes, I am often lonely.

Tonight though,

there was spring-like laughter

amidst this winter snow

as Madonna and I

"got into the groove"
