Her Eyes

Her Eyes

A Poem by redzone
"

She does have great eyes, hope they see me smiling...

"
First a short story/explanation about this poem. A sweet friend left me a comment on my poem 'HI' that I posted here saying, "I thought you were talking about me until you mentioned 'blue eyes'". This of course led me to imagine what color her eyes were. Which led to writing this poem. I have always loved to song and so put a link to it as an intro to the poem.

Her Eyes

Her eyes,
the color of fine Burgundy,
drinks you into them
making you tipsy with desire.
They contain the tempest
of a woman
unchained, yet they
also shiver at the softness
of her heart.

~~~
Her eyes
sparkle with words unspoken,
daring her pen to silence
least it spill her heart;
as her tears
dampen the page,
smudging the ink
into blots of pain.
The pain of every woman
bound and confined
by man-made traditions.
Yet, her eyes,
reflecting millennia’s words,
speak of hope,
of love,
of life.
And like Sappho,
Sylvia,
Natake and Claribel Alegria,
of a woman’s strength.
~~~

Her eyes,
like a fine Burgundy,
drinks you in with desire.

~~redzone 1.16.14

Note: I do not know the real color of her eyes.
But I chose Burgundy because it is a bold and
delicious wine that I thought captured her spirit

She told me her eyes were "brown, nothing special"... I replied Frieda, it is not only the color of eyes that make them sparkle, but more that sparkle comes from your heart...

i like how this captures the idea of woman almost perfectly...

confined by man but loved by man...a tempest if we don't treat her with respect, yet at times someone who can be so soft and gentle...

a tender rock for us crazy guys.

This is a sensual, romantic, delightful write. So glad I gleaned it. It is so hard to keep up with everybody on here, while I am madly scribbling, using the cafe as I used to use napkins in bars. Jot it down ...

Swooning dear curt....such utterly luverly poetic words, am in love with that last stanza, be still my heart. Over the moon stunning, am breathless and speechless. Like I told you, brown eyes, nothing exciting, but Burgundy really sends this into blissful orbit..I pick'd the right fella this time. *wink^ Love ya! x

wow that was truly lovely! A journey of some fondness is admirable and gentle. Again just so lovely it makes reading it a blessing.
