A KISS 6

Somewhere, riding a wave of time

an Okapi dreams of kissing

her Unicorn lover

while dancing among tall grass

swaying along the banks of the Kwalu

under a sweet Bougainvillea sky.

She dreams of ancient, musky soil

the way its dampness cools her heat

as she lays beside him

taking in his spirit scent and

the blackness of the night.

It was the remembered nuzzling of their noses

that drove her insane and into a long ago

African vision, the beating of his heart.

It was the wetness of braying lips

that has kept alive

her hope of one day

flying amidst a blue sky.

This remembered Unicorn kiss

kept the pain away

as the human bullet pierced her heart;

her blood enriching deeply

the redness of Africa’s soil.

A kiss, now whispering runes

in distant galaxies

about ancient African tunes

where wild Unicorns once played.

A poem filled with surrealistic images. A unicorn lover....is this a lover who is only mythical? Is okapi dreaming of her homeland? Not even sure what this one is about, but I allowed the words to carry me along. "The nuzzling of noses" can drive one insane in a good way. A bullet...blood...Africa. I feel like I am seeing images flash on a screen, but I can not tie them together the way you intended them. All I know is, your talent is alive and well. lydi**
