A Letter Poem To You (editd version)

"
Dear You,

The last of the night's chill finds me awakening amidst memories of your warm, anise skin that somehow still mingles within my bed roll desires after all this time

Many moons have danced with Orion since your fingers circled my lips leaving icicles dripping in my mind, and my tongue with no language. Leaving me with memories of the river's flow and continued journey seeking saltier waters, the origins of life, and the path of human consciousness.

Sipping this morning chicory brew, I am pulled toward the sunrise of an Eastern sky as it bends the plain's grass so that folded such, can face its warmth and the taste of dew gathered on lower blades. While circling overhead, two hawks play hide and seek with puffs of morning colored clouds. Screeching, they draw attention to their graceful mystery.

Similar to the mystery of why the lingering scent of shalimar reminds me of swimming in the clear, sun warmed, brook being refreshed by a hidden spring.

Or, the mystery of why you left, leaving pieces of yourself all over my heart and clouding my vision, the way those sudden Summer downpours cause steam to rise from hot, parched earth.

Sipping this morning brew always makes me wonder if some day we may once again touch and dance to the music made by the Moon and Orion; that some day, this journey will find a gentle spirit walker sharing this path, equally, in the planting of a new world and refreshed humanity.

Curt, I never knew you were such a romantic! This is breathtaking and beautiful. Truly you have touched my heart with this stunning poem. There are so many lines worth repeating...worth remembering.. my fav's ...leaving pieces of yourself all over my heart, clouding my vision, the way those sudden summer downpours cause steam to rise from hot, parched earth...The imagery here is imazing...A heart on fire, vision clouded and still...a wish that this journey will find a gentle spirit walking this path..equally. Stunning poetry my friend and a poem I will read again and again.

So much to say about this incredible write.....so very much. "Many moons have danced with Orion"...wonderful celestial reference here. When kisses can leave you speechless, they are the real thing. Shalimar....how well I remember that perfume. Its scent envelops the soul. The image of steam rising from drenched earth when the rain falls is one I see here in South Florida frequently.....but now I will think of it differently each time I do see it. The romantic longing is tangible in this write. The spirituality drew me in...and then I was hooked by the imagery, the metaphors, the similes.....they all samba on the page and I found myself swaying to their tune. I've said it before, Curt, your writes of love and romance are exceptional. I know they are not your favorite genre, but they ought to be. "Nice" write, my friend. Lydi**
