Thanks to the Seal song “Kissed By A Rose On A Grave” for both the music and for the inspiration for the poem itself.

A KISS #1

Have you ever been kissed by a rose

on a grave

in the pale moon light;

by a rose laying cold

by the moon

in the light of a grave

with your name etched

by a kiss

from the one inside.

I am in love

with a kiss

on a grave

from the grave, laying cold.

A moon light rose to expose

your wrinkled, dried breast

your forever cryptic smile

that whispers delight once in awhile

inviting me to rest

beside your rose laying cold

by the moon light

in your kiss

on the grave.

A kiss.

A moon.

I am a name etched

by your kiss

on the stone

forever…

kissed

by a rose

on a grave

in the endless moon light.

I am almost speechless, Curt. I visit my loved ones' final resting places often. I bring flowers. I say prayers and I leave a stone on the headstone.....but next time I will look for the kiss etched there...the kiss left by the one buried beneath the earth there. This poem has moved me.....touched me deeply. I am putting this in my library. Lydi**

Your poem conveys imply beautiful thoughts for one who has passed on. To be a name etched by one's kiss is a forever love - the kind that is etched in granite, and shall never fade. I like the repetition as it helps to make the image of such a pure love even more pronounced.
Lovely!
