He

He

A Poem by Grant Duncan III
"

There are times when we wish we felt the same as we once did.

"

From life's experiences I've realized that love doesn't change... people do.

Most of us are just searching for the easiest place to lay the blame.

So we try to rid ourselves of the pain that only rain can conceal.

We tell everyone that they're the ones who've changed.

Start trying to convince ourselves that all our friends have given up on hope.

Once again pouring booze into this empty cup, I couldn't find the answers to my problems at the bottom of that bottle. The next one will surely clear my thoughts.

Who am I kidding? Can't even be honest when it's just me in the room.

The lights are off, curtains closed and i'm not leaving till these tears dry and I figure out who I am.

I remember a guy who used to smile everyday as though it was his birthday.

He gave more love than he received.

The type of guy to stay silent by your side as you grieved.

Everyday when I wake up I pray he has returned.

That kind, innocent man who used to be blind to the fact that it could possibly fade away.

I refer to him as he because that is no longer me.

there's a two headed girl who lives in Minnesota who share a single body but with two separate
hearts. Which is the only way to pull it off I imagine, that wanting the other self to come
rushing back with open arms. And it's true, there are times when we wish we felt the same
as we once did about everything. When I glance at the sky, each day I have resolved
it to be better than yesterdays sky. Yet no better than tomorrows..

A wonderful poem my friend, which asks the most important question of the 21st century.....

He?

I loved the meaning to this piece.
The ending was brilliant, that you refure to to him as he, because you feel he is no longer you.
I know that you can go back to being him again, all you need to do is believe in yourself.
Stay strong, and stay sober.
It won't be easy but if you really want to change, You can!
Great poem, all your stuff is so deep, filled with emotion and meaning.
Keep writing :)
