HeA Poem by Grant Duncan IIIThere are times when we wish we felt the same as we once did. From life's experiences I've realized that love doesn't change... people do. Most of us are just searching for the easiest place to lay the blame. So we try to rid ourselves of the pain that only rain can conceal. We tell everyone that they're the ones who've changed. Start trying to convince ourselves that all our friends have given up on hope. Once again pouring booze into this empty cup, I couldn't find the answers to my problems at the bottom of that bottle. The next one will surely clear my thoughts. Who am I kidding? Can't even be honest when it's just me in the room. The lights are off, curtains closed and i'm not leaving till these tears dry and I figure out who I am. I remember a guy who used to smile everyday as though it was his birthday. He gave more love than he received. The type of guy to stay silent by your side as you grieved. Everyday when I wake up I pray he has returned. That kind, innocent man who used to be blind to the fact that it could possibly fade away. I refer to him as he because that is no longer me. © 2015 Grant Duncan IIIAuthor's Note
